Prayer for Animals
We the animals of the world pray that:
Humans slow down when driving for we are walking along the side or trying to cross to the other side.
Humans start being more mindful of where they build their homes. We need a home and food as well.
Humans start respecting us as we respect them.
Humans stop taking down our trees. We need oxygen and homes and trees serve as both to us.
Humans stop being so wasteful. They pollute our water and land so we have nothing to drink or eat.
Humans leave the lid off the garbage cans. We love your leftovers even if you don’t.
Humans remember that our sacrifice for their lives is meaningful. We provide you food and clothing please respect us when hunting and use all of us.
Humans stop killing us for something they find as a trophy like our tusks, hands, heads etc. Only certain ones told Spirit they would gladly be sacrificed for another to live. To us, this is not a sacrifice for live. This is dishonor among humans.
Humans play with us and love us, as we do them.
Humans please remember that we share this planet and we animals along with the plants would like you to remember this. Keep this planet clean, do your part to keep our homes and food supplies going, remember your promises to Spirit. Respect our home.

Help me to maintain (name of pet) health and provide food for (name of pet). I ask this of you and thank you for your guidance and help with my pet (name).

St. Francis of Assisi had a unique idea of creation. He saw all creatures as being in harmony—as one family. And so he could address them as Brother Sun, Sister Moon,...Brother Dog and Sister Cat.”

St. Francis of Assisi (1181 or 1182 - 1226) began life as the son of a wealthy merchant in the Perugia region of Italy. In 1206 he renounced his family wealth and started a new life of ministering to the poor. Following the Gospel's teachings, he lived in poverty and preached simplicity and humility. St. Francis believed that all the creatures of the earth were his brethren. Francis, whose feast day is October 4th, loved the larks flying about his hilltop town. He is said to have preached to anyone who would listen, including the birds. It is for this reason that statues of St. Francis often depict him in companionship with birds.

Francis wrote a Canticle of the Creatures, an ode to God’s living things. “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.” And there was testimony in the cause for St. Clare of Assisi’s canonization that referred to her little cat!
